I just built another computer from my last computer which just stop booting. The only parts in this computer is my old ATI 9600 Pro, the fan no longer works but it shows its not running hot. And Super Talent Ram 512x2 DDR 400. My computer only boots half the time and when it does it does not last long. Somtimes I get a blue screen that says ACPI error not supported. Also I just burned Memtest to a CD to check the ram and it locks up on memtest. It gets to the blue screen and then locks up. Says P4 and L1, L2 cache unknow. Help.

Try it with one stick of RAM then the other. Or try another stick of RAM if you've got one.

If you bios has a setting for Legacy USB support...turn it off...and retry the Memtest...that is after you do what jeff7 suggests. I am somewhat surprised at your casual attitude over your graphics adapter fan not working..you have no way of knowing what this will effect in the event you correct your current problem. There are inexpensive aftermarket cooling solutions that will work on that card..fix it! Also possible that you may have a Power supply issue. May I also suggest a CMOS clear proceedure..ya just never know what can lurk.

I got memtest to run and everything passed. I also talked to a guy I know and he said that cheap ram like mine will cause problems like this. He said my mobo is trying to clock my ram at the correct speed but my ram cant run it so its locking up. I have Super Talent ram and its reading at 511mb instead of 512mb. Also I know the video card does not need the fan because it seems to be running at the correct temp. I order some new ram and hopefully that will fix the problem.
