Odd question here - but this is an annoying problem I have had for some time...

Here is my basic setup:

AMD 1.0ghz T-Bird
ABIT KT7-RAID Mainboard
256 MB CAS2 Crucial RAM
A few HDD's, CD, Sound Card...etc
Windows 98SE installed

I use this box primarily for a few online games, and for office-type apps and graphics (web stuffage)

I have it set to shut off the monitor (Viewsonic p90) after 30mins of no action on the PC. The screen saver is set to 5 mins of no activity. I leave this PC running all the time - as it is adequately cooled.

Sometimes when I walk into the room in the morning - I have a black screen with a cursor in the upper left corner just blinking...whole system is locked and I am forced to hard reboot it. Out of a 7-day week, this happens about 3-4 times a week (about every other day).

Anyone have a clue? I have disabled the screen saver, disabled Power Management...and it still seems to do the same thing. I know it is not heat-related as the thing is at 28-30 celsius when it occurs.

Thanks guys and gals.
