From the time you hit your computer's power button to the time you put in your password and wait for all the program startups to finish loading, in which you can freely execute the software you want to run without any slow down.
 
My game machine boots very fast. I have a stripped down Windows XP SP2 with no antivirus and no extra applications, just games. It's probably about 20 seconds.
 
A little over 2 minutes...

I got antivirus, MSN, AIM, etc.... heh...

Its worth the wait if you get an extra 226 GB of space 🙂
 
I remember timing my old AXP at 33 seconds and my new rig is much faster, so probably < 30 s. From password to desktop, it's like 5 s.
