computer keeps skipping/pausing at times

my computer just started skipping at times especially when i download stuff and when im on the internet and using any program from Audobe photoshop to FL Studio...any 1?

I would start out by taking a look at your task manager processes and see which ones are taking up the most CPU power.

I know that sometimes windows screws up and requires a security fix. Another good place to start is making sure you have all your drivers updated and make sure you have the most recent windows updates.

Photo Shop and FL Studio are both very demanding programs. If they have ran smoothly in the past then I'd say you have a few extra things running in the background that are getting in the way.

When was the last time you defragged the drive?

If you want the system to run smoother then i suggest adding another gig of RAM. Assuming your talking about the system listed in your Sig. I would also look into getting a dual core for the system. You can still find some socket 939 x2s and Optirons around. I'm running an Opti 165 with 2gb of RAM in my main system and my other system has 1G and a 3800 X2. The X2 system has some lag with WoW and other things because it only has a single gig of RAM. The opti runs without a problem.

ya i think i should get another stick of ram and an ATi 3650HD gfx card..
