I am having a weird problem with one of my computers. It keeps shutting off. Then when I boot back up, the bios setting page is up with the cpu frequency multiplier highlighted. It just started doing this. It isn't heat as far as I can tell. The cpu fan is still spinning and i have tried running with a large fan blowing in the case. The system has never been overclocked. Could this be the cpu going bad? I am really at a loss. The computer doesn't reboot, it just shuts off. Very strange. Any ideas?

HAve you updated your BIOS lately?

how about supplying us with the mobo and bios version as well as anything connected to it... Maybe your PS info too (as im sure many ppl will jump on that if its anything less than an Antec :) )

Oh and a long time ago (the cyrix days if you remember those) I was flexin a Cyrix P166+ comp and i got a bad CPU (not really surprising) and it would get into windows and page fault all the time. We changed everything out before the CPU was changed and the problem stopped. I got a Asus board out of it (as a replacement from my cheapo board) but my comp was in "the shop" as it were for one month.
