Computer keeps locking up

I think it's something wrong with Windows or software conflict, possibly drivers issues with the graphics card.. but typically every 1hr to 3hrs my computer will just lock up and I have to restart it to get it back. My computer isn't nearly the best, and my current specs are:

AMD 64 2800
Radeon 9500 Pro
512MB
Asus K8NE-Deluxe
Santa Cruz sound card

I've run memtest overnight and no errors found in the memory. AsusProbe shows temperatures around 45-49C. My computer will usually crash while running some media application or when playing games after an hour. Is there any diagnostic I can run or something to determine what it might be? I'd rather not have to reinstall Windows, but I'm thinking that might be a solution.

Thanks 🙂

Well, prime is suppose to fail (I like SP2004 but thats just me) not lock up your computer. Could also be a PSU issue.

Oh. If it was a PSU issue would I still be able to memtest overnight?

Maby memtest doesn't demand that much power as windows and w/e else you do when it locks up?

At this point I'm really not sure. It could be a number of things. Running prime rules out CPU. Could still be PSU though. Might want to check the voltages on the lines.

AsusProbe shows the voltage at:

12.032
5.053
3.36
1.552vcore

I remember the first time this happened was around when I ran a CD from Sony with that DRM software.. so I just removed the driver it installed. I guess next I will remove drivers one by one and reinstall them to make sure it's not some issue with those.

Since when does an AMD64 use 1.5 volts?

I though it was around 1.35/1.4, unless your OCing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it? I really don't know since I'm not that good at technical aspects of hardware and what not. I'm not OCing at all. I believe I set most of the motherboard settings to auto.. and it's been running on auto for over a year before this started happening.
