Computer keeps locking on games.. HELP

I have a 950mhz AMD and a 32mb GeForce with 128mb of ram. Its a Gateway computer ( 🙁 ) so nothing is overclocked. Some games run fine.. but 3D intense games lock after awhile and keep locking. It's REALLY bad on Thief 2.. it locks ever min or so.. i downloaded the new game patch, but it didnt help any.. the game runs fine at first but it will start locking after awhile and keep locking every 2-5min after i restart computer and start game. What could be doing this? How do i fix it? its VERY annoying.. hehe.. Could it be my Geforce overheating?

Call Gateway. They should have free tech support anyway. Not a lot can be said here for OEM's. If we knew the mobo mabey, it would be a start.
 
It still keeps crashing.. but this last time.. the picture was real grainy in the game after i restarted computer from a lock up.. HELP!! Anyone have a clue whats going on?

 
I definitely feel for you man, I have never had much respect for Gateway and it's just pathetic that even when you want to play a simple game - the darn thing just won't work. I'm not quite sure what the problem is: but i doubt that it's your Geforce overheating. I'm thinking maybe you might have a defective card so you should call Gateway technical support. Good luck with getting through 😉.

Sucks to buy a new retail system, and it doesn't work 🙁.
