computer keeps freezing.... arghh....

alright.. I recently installed the lightspeed yamaha 16X cd burner and am using easy cd creator 4.02 to burn my cds... everytime after I finish burning the cd, my computer freezes and I have to push the reset button to restart my computer.. the same thing happened w/ easy cd creator 5.0 before I degraded back to 4.02...Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesnt work .... why.. why... WHY....is it a software problem?? hardware problem?? anybody know any possible solutions... I am running win2k, 1 GHZ P3, 512 MB of RAM.... any help greatly appreciated... thanks...

If you have any other drives, dvd, cd-rom, etc try unpluging them and running your program. I had a similair thing happen to me, every time I tried to burn something my pc froze. I checked every card, cable, etc with no luck. I finally unplugged my cdrom and every thing worked fine. I plugged it back and same deal, lock-up. The cdrom was indeed bad, I checked it on another box and same problem. This may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot. Hope you get your problem fixed what ever it is.
