I think my comp just died on me. It was running perfectly up until today when I went to install my TB Stanta Cruz soundcard. I shut down the computer and flip the switch on my PSU. I removed my old Audigy and placed the TBSC in the slot . Same process I used a dozen of times. I flipped back the PSU switch and pushed the power button and this is where the problem starts.

First Boot:
Boots up and enters Windows2000, I recieve numerous errors saying that it can't read a bunch of .dlls. Then it BSOD's on me.

Second Boot:
Posts fine. Grub loads up and I select Win2k again. This time it says ntskernel.sys is missing and needs to be reinstalled.

Third Boot:
Try to reboot again for the heck of it, and this time it says I have a partition error.

Fourth Boot:
I insert Win2k Cd-rom and reboot, enters the setup screen and loads all necessary files. Right before it enters the setup, it BSOD's saying that I should reboot and/or remove unessary devices (ie. extra HD's).

Fifth Boot:
Boots up and posts, it detects my HD's and CD-Rom but then after POST it suddenly reboots and repeats the same process over and over again until I press the power button.

Sixth Boot:
I leave the computer off for awhile and then decided to give it another try. It passes Post and Grub managed to load. I try Linux this time and it halts right after it detects my CD-Rom.

Seventh Boot:
I remove my WD1200JB drive (which I believed has failed :() and set my IBM to master and reboot w/ Win2k CD. I enter setup fine and I format the HD and install Win2k. It copies all the files okay but I had to hard rebooot when it was finished. It boots up, but saying that it's missing the ntoskernel.dll (not sure of the exact name). I reboot once again, but then it just like the Fifth boot.

Eigth Boot:
Decided to give it one more try. I reboot with the win2k cd but right before setup it BSOD's. Arghh!!!! I gave up.

I gave up then and now I'm using my Labtop to type this message. I'm fearing that I lost my WD1200JB and all my precious files (music, schoolwork, etc..). What in the heck coule be the problem here? My CPU, MOBO, and Ram are all only a couple of weeks old.

Here are my specs:
-AMD XP1600+
-Abit KX7-333R
-512mb Corsair XMSPC3200C2
-IBM 80GB 120GXP
-Western Digital 120GB 1200JB (8Mb)
-GF3 Ti200
-TBSC

Please help me.

Have you tried taking out the TBSC? You posted a pretty complete list of what you and I dont see that in there.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Interestingly enough, my Abit KX7-333R isn't working right now either. You might want to reset your CMOS and see if that works. Is your CPU or RAM overclocked or anything? They might be getting too hot. Also you might want to enable your ESCD Auto Update thingy(or whatever it's called), so the system is set for the TBSC. Other than that, maybe the TBSC is just your problem. Take that out and see if the problems reoccur.

I agree...reset bios...Then take out a stick of ram if you have multiples and try each stick...

Remove all sound Hardware. Reboot to BIOS. Reset ACPI to yes. Save changes, Reboot. This will re configure BIOS for the OS. ( NTOSKERNEL.DLL). While rebooting, press F8 repeatedly. This should bring up the boot menu options. Choose safe mode and uninstall all sound Soft ware. Especially Play center. and or TBSC drivers as well. remove any Sound or game ports in Device manager. Right click, delete. This includes all SB related ports or devices. Reboot. Re enter BIOS on this reboot and make sure that on board sound is disabled, if present. Save and exit.

At this point you should be able to enter Windows, If you cannot, Re enter bios and set performance to normal and make sure that all mem settings are by SPD. Reboot. See what happens if you have to get this far. Donot reinstall hardware in safe mode!Wait till it runs with none, Then reinstall hardware , reboot, let windows detect and install the drivers if it can. If it cannot, PM me. That is anther Chapter.:)
lol:) edit: for got something.

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried most of them as they are standard protocol. It seems like my computer has a mind of it's own. For some reason it decides to work today without me doing anything. I've reinstalled my TBSC and I reboot. My problems come back, so now I know wha'ts causing the problem. Well, I finally open up that darn user guide for the TBSC and it says something of the sort "Don't install card in a shared PCI slot". So that was my problem after all, I rearranged my pci cards and everything is working like a champ. But that doesn't explain seem to explain why it still wouldn't boot last night when I did not have the TBSC installed.

The funny thing is, well not that funny, I finished building an AMD system, Athlon XP1600 processor, Soyo MB with VIA KT333 chipset, Micron DDR RAM, 300W generic PS, W2K, Nvidia GF1 DDR, IBM HDD, no sound, no modem. Got it to work 2 days ago. NOW it won't go beyond the loading phase of W2K (the screen with progression bar at bottom)? Dude, I should have call Dell!

Maybe your system just had to take some time getting over it's relationship with the Audigy, before it was ready to go on. Breakups can be difficult. lol;)
