my computer is ****** up bad. at first during cs, my frames would all of a sudden get ridiculously bad (<10fps) and will stay like that. if i alt+tab out, it will hard lock. now even when i am just browsing, it will make a small beeping sound and then moments later, it will hard lock. im not sure what is making the beeping sound or when events are triggering it. has anyone heard of this before? im using msi k8n neo2 plat nf3 mobo and a64 3000+ and gf6800. i thought it was my video card at first so i cleaned out the fan (using nvsilencer5 on it) and its running around 40*C now. i don't think its my cpu because ive run superpi on it for for hours and no crashes. what makes a faint beep and then crashes?
well ive done the video driver thing to death. i had an issue with grainy video using the latest nvidia (91.31) and went back to 81.38 or something and it fixed the video issue but the cs crashing was still there but now its doing the one single beep and then like 10 seconds later a hard lock. i don't know what could be making that sound... the mobo maybe? i don't think the video card or cpu can make a beep sound right? maybe the hard drive? i think it has to be the mobo. i wanna say my psu is fine (antec trupower 430W) its been great ever since i got it and my components haven't changed.
