My original thread was from the above post but I changed motherboards etc.
My motherboard specs are as follows:
Motherboard: Asus A7N8X DELuXE
Processor: AMD XP 2400+
Memory: 2x 256MB Crucial PC 2700 DDR
Video Card: Geforce4 Ti4200
Sound: Onboard sound
Onboard NIC
Hard Drive: Western Digital 7500RPM 120GB
Floppy Drive
1 CD-Rom/1 CD-RW
The case I had was an Antec Plus660 (not important) But the power supply that came with it is an Antec 330W Smartpower(truepower?). Well yesterday I was using my computer and it was having problems. The computer Shuts off automatically so I opened my case and bam! A rush of heat came out. Seems as though the power supply died. The case was about 80-90 degrees F. I look at whats wrong and the power supply fans arent turning at all. So I took another PS from my old HP pavillion and I'm using it in my computer right now. Well there has been less problems. When I had the antec power supply in the computer would shut down after 30 mintues of use and just automatically shut down or try and restart. The boot screen would never come up again but the computer will still be running. But with this new power supply the computer will stay on longer. 1-2 hours and will restart and boot up again. Now my question is what is causing my computer to restart automatically? I mean it seems like it's the power supply to me but it may be something different. Should 330W be enough to supply everything listed above and an additional 2 case fans?
I will call newegg.com and try to return or get a replacement power supply but it had no warranty. But hopefully after spending $1,000 over the last 6 months there they will fix it. If not I will have to try and get antec to replace it which I heard may take very long. Maybe I will pay a little extra and get a 400W.
