computer hangs up on start up on the widows screen

every time I start my computer it just hangs when it gets to the widows screen. i tried disabling and enabling services in msconfig, and did nothing.I would appreciate some help.

press F8 before you see the windows screen.

boot in safe mode.

watch the log list, and once it freezes write down the last few lines (from the bottom of the screen)
post them here. keep them in order.

i once had a temp freeze problem with mup.sys (added around 60sec to boot time), but it actually got 'fixed' after removing my cd-RW 48x drive and putting in a new dvd-RW 3520A.
