My computer hangs up at the screen that hads the Windows XP that is blue and will not move forward. It does this in safe mode also. I can move the mouse around but it just sits there for hours. I have tried to reboot every way I can. Last good also stops at this page when loading.

I cannot get in the setup screen with any F key. The computer will not boot from the XP CD. I do not have floppy disks for the computer.

Help, Help, Help, Help, Help, Help, Help,

Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please,

Thanks, John

You might have all ready done this, but is the computer set to boot from the CD?

You need to access the setup screen, but you say you cannot. Try tapping the proper Function button to get you into BIOS; on my DELL, I need to tap it repeatedly for it to work. You can also try unhooking any devices that are not of immediate need, e.g., second CD-ROM.

Could be a corrupted boot.ini. Running chkdsk /r might solve your problem, but getting to the BIOS is the immediate problem, obviously.

You will probably want to contact DELL if the system is still under warranty.

I am doing this to help a friend. It seems the person that built the computer put all kind of password stuff on it.

Someone suggested removing the cmos battery for a bit, then reinstalling and that should eliminate the password thing and maybe allow me into the setup bios screen.

Wish this were a DELL, but it is a built alone type computer. They have allowed every cat and dog of request from the internet to be stored on the computer. Let there antivirus go months without updating. Just a mess.
