computer gone crazy

1gig of corsair 2-2-2-6 ram
bfg 6800gt
seagate 160gb HD pata
k8vse mobo

ok, i just reformatted the computer, meaning its a clean slate, i keep getting fatal system errors, memory dumps, not enough virtual memory and every goddamn thing under the sun .... i mean i cannot load up the windows setup (the colored screen where it says 39minutes remaining on the left hand side).

I don't know what the hell is going on and would prefer some help

What led to this?
Was the compuer stable and you formatted and then this happend?

You may want to run memtest and prime95 to make sure that you don't have an unstable hardware.

right now i cannot boot into windows....the computer keeps getting some sort of blue screen of death or just reboots itself silly. I finally got winXP to install, but i cannot get into windows itself. I mean, unless all these tests can be run out of dos, and even then i'm still having problems with a system tahts continually rebooting itself

i'm sure i got the newest bios and everything.

I don't even know how this got started, seeing that i twas working fine for about a week now. I just boot it up after i got back from class one day and it gave me some gibberish about config.sys being wrong ... and bam the blue screen of death came up. The computer would continue to do that until i gave up on rebooting it and recovering any data that i had on it.

Download a memtest86 disk, boot from it, and run the tests. It should help figure out if your memory is ok. Are you using a reputable power supply? Bad power supplies can cause a lot of issues.

A high-quality 400W+ power supply would be a good idea there. Also, what memory voltage are you using? The low-latency Corsair, I'd do at least 2.7 volts or else 2.8. Don't leave it on AUTO.

hmm i'll try upping the voltage on it....also i'm using a thermaltake silent power 420W...

Your power supply is decent. I'd say that it is the memory. It would help if you could have told us the blue screens that have been occuring.
