computer goes crazy when booting from win98 cd

when it starts to boot from the cd, it starts beeping angrily and displaying whole screens full of gibbirish ascii characters.

whats up with that??

Do you have it overclocked any? I had an overclocked PC that displayed ASCII characters during an XP install. Eventually it would lock up. Knocking it back to the default speed solved the problem.

the choices are

66/33 MHz
x 5.5 = 366 MHz

ok i took the cd rom off secondary and put it as slave on primary

now when it trys to boot it says

1. FD 1.44MB System Type-(00)

and just stops for a while then gives the garbage again

what the heck?
