Please Help Me!

When I play computer games the computer freezes up. If I turn on the computer fresh it will play for about 30 to 45 minutes then it will freeze. If I have the computer on for awhile and then play it, the games will freeze within 5 minutes.

These are the things I have tried:

--I originally had A Voodoo 5 5500 agp. I updated the drivers with no luck.
--Thinking the video card was the problem I installed my Brother-in- law's old Annialator Pro card. The problem still remained
--Disconnected the printer, scanner, joystick to see if that cause the problem, it didn't help
--I changed the mouse, it didn't help
--I have Norton Utilities 2000 and have done a scan of the memory, motherboard, etc. All have checked out fine.
--thinking power might be the problem I have set up the computer an another room with a different powerbar, no luck.

The only thing that I can think of is that the CPU might be over heating. About once every 2 months when I boot the computer a screen appears telling me that it cannot confirm the processor speed and to check the screen to see if it is correct.

My Computer specs are:

Windows ME
256 MEG RAM
Intel Pentium 3 933Mghz
Asus Motherboard
Creative Labs Annialator Pro (Presently)
Logitech optical mouse
Creative Labs Sound Blaster x gamer 5.1
Viewsonic pf775 17' monitor
44X CD ROM
Cable Internet
Direct x 8 installed

I really hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

I sugest playing you games in a windowed mode, and having a temp moniter on the same screen. if you find that if freezes at the same temp, the just get a new HFS. the P3 has an internal temp diode that will cause the computer to stop working, by design, when it reaches a certain temp, but I forgot what it is.
