here are my computer specs:

amd 64 3400+
1gb corsair 3200
gigabyte k8ns pro
2x 120gb WD in raid 0
1x 36.7 WD raptor (for OS and such)
550W antec PSU
Radeon x800 xt pe
audigy 2 pro
2x optical CD drives

the temperatures are around 70F ambient and somewhere between 103-120F(that is the max i have ever seen it). Usually when i game it is around the 111-113F mark.

This typically happens when I am gaming, but it has happened other times. My computer will freeze from anywhere from 5 seconds to 45 seconds and loud feedback or static comes out of the headphones. When this happens, the busy light on the hard drive is on constantly. Sometimes the computer gets through the process and works fine afterwards, although i usually lose sound for roughly 5 minutes. In the system log i get the following message:

The device, \Device\Scsi\SI3112r1, did not respond within the timeout period.

Does this indicate that it is 100% sure a hard drive problem or can i not eliminate it to that as of yet? Anyone else ever heard of this problem?

Motherboard issue by the sounds of it.

Try basic checks and remove anything that's not necessary to try and eliminate each piece of hardware.

i have tried it without the raid and without that specific video card. I have also reformated and tried different raid controller drivers and different video card drivers because the x800 xt pe seems to have more problems than my old geforce3 ti200
