Computer Freezing/Monitoring Software

Is there a piece of software which can be installed on computer system that works in the background and if the computer freezes, or if an application freezes, it will have the latest information about what happened, possibly why it happened, ETC?

Looking for a technical support type solution where we could have a better idea of exactly what was happening with the system prior to the freeze.

You can force a memory dump which could then be analyzed. Microsoft has a registry entry that can generate a dump when a specific keystroke is entered.

Not sure if that would work in your situation.

Yes there is an application for that, it's called uptime. It's a microsoft thing. Google for uptime.exe, it does work with XP and 2kpro. It'll show you application failures, shutdown/boots etc etc.

Have fun.

Have you personally used this? How reliable is it in finding errors on the system?
