Computer freezing in BIOS (KP6-BS + P3-600E)

I have a KP6-BS (rev 0.2, supports coppermines) and two p3-600e's that refuse to co-operate. The when playing around in the bios to change settings sometimes i last a minute or two, somtimes the moment i hit a key it locks. This is with both cpu's, or either cpu used alone.
Can anyone think of any common reasons for this? I had a similar problem with an old socket7 board when i had the ps2 header plugged in the wrong place for the mouse. But this is an ATX board so that can't be it.

what bios if it is AMI you can press certain key combos on boot up and the bios will be forced flash directly from floppy ig that will help you I dont know. Did you recently flas the bios? if so go back to the previous versio or reflash it

Boot Recovery Feature:
For AMI BIOS:

Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g.
  1. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
  2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive.
  3. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update.
  4. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
  5. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.

It did it with an older bios version, so I flashed to the newest version, and the problem is the same.

in order to flash it i had to put a p2-400 from another computer in so it could run stable long enough to flash it. The p2-400 works fine.
