I have a new computer, 1.8g P4 with a GeForce2 MX400 64 meg agp video card, and 256 ram.

Installed a new game Red Alert 2 "Command and Conquer" and after about 30 minutes of playing, the computer freezes up. Actuually, the graphics do, and cant do anything but reboot, however the mouse is still functional, so I dont know if it is the computer CPU or the HD or the Graphics card. Are the overheating? How can I tell if they are overheating or which is the culprite? Would it help to add a front mounted 5 1/4 drive bar cooling fan?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Does it only freeze up when playing Red Alert 2?
Try playing a different game to see if the same problem still occurs.

Do a search on google for a program named Hot CPU Tester.
If the computer crashes when you run that, it ist most likely a CPU temperature problem.

I have a similar problem. The new computer I put together is a 2.4Ghz P4, 512MB DDR400 RAM, SiS 655 Max mobo and an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. When I play C&C Generals it runs fine for about 5 minutes and then freezes. When I restart the computer WinXP tells me that "a draw opeartion has failed" and recommends that I update my drivers. I don't have a internet connection on that PC yet so I haven't updated the drivers, but hopefully that will work. Try updating your drivers and seeing if that helps.

Well, it has happened twice, and both times I left the computer off till the next day, and no problems.

Just wondering if it is the video card.
