Hi everyone,

I have a problem burning audio cd disks (data works fine). I have tried two different cd burners and multiple different cd burning programs. I have tried both burning from the hard drive and from disk to disk, both of which still results in a freeze. (can not warm boot or alt+ctrl+del) I can not even burn audio at 1x. There is 64MB of memory in the machine and system resources are 84% free before attempting a burn (no unneeded programs open in sys tray). I am going to try to stick some of my ram in my friends computer but do not think that that is the problem. Anyone have any ideas.

Please Help!!!

System
Ram -> 64MB
CPU -> AMD K6 500Mhz
OS -> Win 98 2nd Ed.
Burner -> HP 8*4*32 & Sony 8*4*32
Software -> Nero, Cd Extreme, Easy Cd, NTI Cd Maker

Will either burner work in your friend's computer?

Have you tried different brands of CD-Rs?

Try a reformat and fresh install of win98...I know that sounds drastic, but every so often I have to do that with win98 to get my Plextor burner to work correctly again. It doesn't hang up the comp like yours, but it will refuse to burn at its rated speed.

Uninstall NTI software, throw it away, and reinstall the burner software you want to use.

before you go so far as formating your harddrive and reinstalling windows, you should make sure that there are no programs running in the background when you are burning. press CTRL ALT DEL once after you have opened the cd burning software and close everything but that program. i have used a couple of burners with my old crappy pentium 133 with 48MB and only have had probelms when i don't close everything. hope you figure it out. you should not have to get more ram. beatniks3
