I'm having a problem with my computer. If you inadvertantly touch the computer case the computer will lock up and the harddrive light will light up and STAY ON. Other times the computer will just power down. I've taken everything out of the case including motherboard multiple times and it still seems to be doing it. What could be the cause of the problems? Thanks for the help I really appreciate this. I want to get it resolved so I don't F-up the computer.

Try dismounting the mobo off the case and place on top of a card board. Connect everything and then try again. If the problem is still there you need to disconnect some of the peripherals one at a time while testing along the way. There could be a short on the mobo to the case or one of the peripherals has a bad wiring shorting it to the case.

Maybe you have loose power connections to your HDDs or something? I had a problem similar to this - when I kick my case on accident, it would power off.

I also wanted to note that when this happens the CD-ROM light comes on and stays on with the harddrive light. I don't know if this changes anything. Please help!

Thanks!

Try disconnecting first and find out if the problem goes away. Post again after doing so.
