Computer Freezes but does't crash

I have Vista 64bit Ultimate installed on my desktop.

E7200 @ 3.8ghz
2x2gb XMS2C5
7200.1 250GB HD
8800GT

Keep in mind this is on a clean install. My computer will randomly freeze. At this point I am unable to do anything but restart it. I let it sit for 30min once, and even the time did not change. When this happens I cannot use the keyboard or mouse. The caps,num, and scroll lock buttons do not change the led lighting on the keyboard. Once I got a 0x0000000a blue screen, but every other time the computer will freeze indefinitely. Any ideas?

What PSU do you have?

You mention the time doesn't change after a period of time and you do get it running. You may want to check the CMOS battery to see if tis any good. It may need to be replaced.

I have a 650 watt neo power. The time doesn't change while it is frozen, so I know its not just the usb ports messing up. I can see the CMOS battery giving issues when booting, but how would it affect it when in windows?

I notice you're pretty heavily OCed. Have you gotten that setting stable before?

An overclock that is stable on 32bit might not be stable on 64bit because the OS actually uses all of the processor.

OP: So err... you might wanna try lowering your OC...

BTW - a freeze is a crash. Often the result of a memory collision.

I ran prime for about six hours without a crash. I ended up reformatting and thus far it seems fine. When the computer froze I was watching a streaming movie, and cpu usage was only at about 25%, not a very heavy load. If its starts doing it again I'll just bump the voltage, the joy of being on water.
