computer freeze

I am having what i assume is a hardware failure, my completely locked up(no black screen or anything, just froze) and wouldnt continue running, so i had ot hold in the power button to restart, simply pressing it wouldnt work either. After restarting my MOBO reverted my Q6600 to factory settings(it was OC but im sure heat was not an issue, also i ran Prime for an hour when OCing and never had a problem). Does anyone have any advice for figuring out my problem? it just started thismorning and has happened like 5 times. Also it takes my about 5 trys to get my system up and running after a crash, it checks my drivers and such then goes to a black screen most of the time, which it will not go past.'

also my computer specs are as follows

MOBO=gigabyte DQ6
Video card=8800GTX overclocked at 626(came from manufacturer like that, not manual OC)
RAM=2x2gig kingston HYPERX
Powersupply=620W corsair
CPU=Q6600
Operating system=Windows Vista 64bit

hmmm. first thing that comes to mind is heat. Do you have good airflow in your case? that GTX is a heat monster. Try playing with the side of the case off. maybe try a different graphics card. I have had problems with a 8800gts before that sounds a lot like what you are experiencing. Never a blue screen just frozen gfx. The card ended up being bad and EVGA replaced it for me. no problems since then.

yeah i believe your right, heat isnt the issue because im watercooling but i think the card is bad, got to the point my monitor wouldnt even recognize my comp, now i am using an old x1600 i had lay around and i am having no problems, no i gotta send that thing back in, wahoo lol

hmm you dont think the fact that i had it watercooled would affect the warranty would it? the card wasnt OCd or anything, just removed the stock fan
