Computer freaks out at 800x600@60Hz

Hey folks.

I'm running the gaming rig in my sig. I have the latest Nvidia drivers.

For some reason, when I set my video card to 800x600@60Hz, the computer freaks out and sets itself to 185Hz which causes my monitor to go to standby.

This wouldn't be a problem if Battlefield 2 didn't want to start at that resolution after I patched it.

Any ideas about what I can do? I've set every BF2 video config file to something other than 800x600@60Hz, but it still wants to start at that resolution.

I'd appreciate any help you can give.

You can try editing the video.con file of Bf2. Shouold be a setting in there somewhere to set the res.

Thanks.

I finally tracked the sucker down. I had to remove the 800x600 bit completely and change it to 1024x768. I had just been changing the refresh rate.

Still, Windows does it when I set my desktop to 800x600@60Hz and I'd like to know WTF is going on.
