I don't play games a whole lot but will occasionally play an FPS. Will be used mostly for internet/word processing/ lots of multi-tasking.

Heres what I was thinking:

Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W Power Supply - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153023

THERMALRIGHT XP-90 Multiple Heatpipes CPU Heatsink http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835109119

I plan to OC the processor a little bit. $750 is my max and w/o shipping it is $650 so about $725 shipped. Any suggestions or reccomendations?

dont overclock and the Graphics card is prefectly good for gaming. Now your Powesupply is bad. Never get a cheap one or from a company that does not spectialize in that area.
the top 3 in your price range Seasonic,Forton, Enermax I recommend getting on getting one or two b/c I dont have experiance with enermax.

The Thermaltake PSU has a Efficiency rate of 65%
PSU 1 70%
PSU 2 Up to 85% never go below 70%

I have PSU 1 I like it but if you want quiet get #2 both are good

And for got sakes Get a black DVD burner not beige
Black DVD burner

And I dont like OCZ ram so this would be a better Choise

looks like a good build, you might have trouble when you want to upgrade though. If you can afford it, go AM2. The CPUs are rougly the same amount, and so is the ram. The mobo might bump it up a few dollars.

I built a AM2 3000+ for my friend and it was 700 cdn, so i say it should be doable. Avoid the Asus M2N-E if you decide to go AM2 though.

You're overspecing your CPU, you're going to get more use from a faster single core and more RAM than you will with a dual core and a single gig.

Thanks for the reccomendations heres what you have convinced me to change to

OCZ Gold Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227078

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2000MHz HT 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103735

FSP Group (Fortron Source) 2 SATA, PCI Express, 450W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104954

I'll also just use the stock HS/fan instead of the xp-90 to cut down the price and since you said I don't really need to OC. If I do OC it will only be like to 2.2ghz
Just need help with the mobo, any suggestions maybe for about $100.

EDIT:will also get black dvd writer

How about this hard drive, its got a larger cache and is cheaper than the one you have selected after rebate.

Just a thought
Edit: Reviews for it seem to be better as well.

I don't know what to do about AM2 mobos. Don't get the M2N-E. You should look for the nForce 550 or 570 chipsets though. Anything else would blow your budget out of the water =o.

Dual core is very good, you won't regret it. The minute advantage of single core CPUs in your price range for single threaded programs won't matter compared to the much smoother response under load of a multi-processor system.

There's no need to repeat what everyone else has said; other than the single-core comment, you're getting good advice. I'll also commend you for not overdoing it on your college system. I went too far overboard with mine, and now wish that I'd restrained my desires a bit for financial reasons. Your priorities seem to be in line given what you'll be doing on the system, and I think you'll be satisfied for several years.

changes i would make:
2 x 1gb corsair valueselect
Fortron 450-500watt psu, or seasonic 500watt, or Enermax liberty
seagate 7200.10 hdd
different case, TT has many sharp edges inside that will cut you and maybe your cables when piecing together pc
asus motherboard for more reliability and support in these forums
