Computer for a friend

Hi all, I am building a computer for my friend. I have the system almost complete but just had a few questions left. Right now I have the Iwill KK266 picked out and 256mb of PC133 from crucial. However I am looking to try and make this computer hast her for awhile. So my question was schould I go with DDR perhaps and if I do what is a good board ie.. Stability above all else. Or schould I stick with Sdram and if so, is the Iwill KK266 a good board. We are trying to work with a budget of 800 to 1000 dollars, Here is what I have so far.

AMD Duron 800 from Spartantech.com $54
Iwill KK266 from Newegg.com $107
Aopen 52x cdrom from newegg.com $28
Plextor 12x10x32 from newegg.com $147
In-Win A500 from mwave.com $59
256mb PC133 from Crucial $49.59
IBM 20GB 60GXP from newegg.com $85
3com 56k winmodem from mwave.com $27
Mitsumi floppy from newegg.com $9
ATI Radeon LE from newegg.com $69
Onboard sound
Altec Lansing ACS48 from mwave.com $89
KDS VS-9i from techonweb.com $222

That does not count shipping on anything but the monitor.

Does this seem alright, what changes do you think could/schould be made. Remeber that I am trying to stay within a $800-$1000 budget.

Thanks

hmm i found that processor for much cheaper on pricewatch... $34 but.. i recommend buying things from one place saves on shipping which will get your price down in the end... (even if you pay $5-7 too much for something) also use the FS/FT forum here... lots of good deals on NEW and USED products can save you some money...

Good Luck

Ya I know, I tried sticking to just a couple of places to keep the shipping down and still get a good price. I probably will try and get a few things off the board.

Still wondering about the DDR question and MB question.

Thanks

Make sure that Newegg shipping doesn't ruin the deal on the prices you are getting. Unless these are a lot of free shipping items, the shipping may be quite staggering for that many items.

I would recommend DDR memory over SDRAM.

EDIT: Also think about spending the extra $17 on the Toshiba DVD drive instead of the CD-ROM.

EDIT: Also Newegg has a Duron 850 for the same price as Spartantech's 800.

Ya I know, guess I schould go see what the shipping is going to be for the newegg stuff, However is the duron 850 from newegg a retail one, I would prefer retail over oem if possible.

If I were to go with DDR, what would be a good and very stable board for it. One with preferable preety good onboard sound.

Thanks
