I am complaining because the new system feels sluggish compare the 4 year old system. I generally only use the new system for IM, web brower and some MP3 listening. It's true that the new system gets a higher PCmark score, but it "feels" that webpages and stuff loads faster on the old system. I am sure I have the newest drivers on the new system (not on the old one), and I have compared them after fresh installs (so, shouldn't be adware).

Is it because my new system uses onboard video and onboard sound?

Should I spend a $100~$200 dolloar upgrading some of the components in the new system?

the old system definately has a better video card, but if you're not gaming, it shouldn't matter.

fyi, you new system isn't that much faster than your old. a64 vs p4 2.8.

scan your new system for malware.

I think you missed the point of the OT, he said the "New" system runs more sluggish than the "Old" system. So the problem is the new system.

Need to check the new system for:

1. Virus
2. Malwares
3. Defrag the hdd
4. Start Up menu (reduce or minimize start up programs)
5. If you have anti-virus or malwares, make sure it is not running or scanning all the time.
6. Tweak the new system using Tweak XP. Do a google and you'll find some programs for doing this.

I think it isn't related to malware because I compare them when I initially fresh install the new system.

The onboard video could be a factor. What you can do is if the new system has the same video interface (agp) as the old one then you can try using an agp add in video card by using the agp card from the old to the new system and see if things will get better for the new one. Also verify the bios settings to make sure it's tweaked for optimum performance. A64 3000+ maynot be much higher than a P4 2.8 but it should still be snappier.
