I went to the computer fair today at pomona and bought the following:

$49 Enermax CS-A1QX-06 Case comes with Enermax EG301P-VB (300W) PSU

$59 Slot Load Pioneer DVD-105s

$8 2x 80mm & 3x 60mm fan grills

$9 Artict Silver II

I saw some great deals on some Lan-Li Aluminum cases. Did not jot down the price, but I thik it was $170? Not sure what model. *Sorry I wasn't in the market for this case but I know some of you guys are.

Lastly, I was dissapointed to find out that there were no good deals on KYRO II cards, only one vendor was selling the Guillemot Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64MB for $138(retail) it's $110(oem) at newegg.

For more details, PM me. I'm going back to get the ECS K7SEM for my little sister's mATX system.

UPDATE: For the Lian Li Lovers:)
At the JCL booth
$255 PC-70
$195 PC-68 & PC-67
$235 PC-62
$185 PC-60/G/P/B/R (Saw someone selling it for $174)
$155 PC-30

These fairs used to be a good deal, but with $7 admission $2 parking and prices a bit more expensive than online sites like newegg then why bother going. Also, a 2 years ago you can haggle these guys down and get them to kill the sales tax but that wont happen anymore. These really should be free or alot cheaper because ive wanted to bring people there but $7 a pop is just rediculous.

That case does look like a good deal though.

Parking there today was 6 bucks!!! i got the 25 dollar year pass. Micron 256mb Ram selling for 41 bucks. Went there to see if there were any good deals on digital cameras, but none 6 bucks and 2 hours of looking down the drain. Oh yea there was another guy selling retail boxed geforce 3 cards for $319. Im not sure what company that makes that card, but its the same one as best buy in the purple box.I think its vistek or something like that.

Sounds like the Marketpro shows around here...used to be cheap, but now they're no better (and in a lot of cases, worse) than the internet retailers. Wasted 5 bucks on their show today...lots of no name junk for ridiculous prices.

<< Micron 256mb Ram selling for 41 bucks >>

At the show I attended today (Chantilly, VA), the Micron 256 MB PC133 memory was CAS3 - priced at $47 - $55. However, I did find a vendor with the CAS2 memory (7ns chips) for $49. This made the trip worth it.

Well... keep in mind that the parking passes only come in a few different colors, and they havent changed in the last 2 years(hint). And if you buy the $25 pass and use it more than 3 times you start saving cash. The show was much better a few years back. These days it gets too many people and they wont make as good a deal on stuff. There are still some good deals. I would recomend buying cases & moniters there. Also you may find a vendor who will give you a break if you buy a lot(over $500) of stuff.

Yeah, parking is a b!tch $7! and admission is also $7. But if you bring someone along, you can split the parking. And its almost not worth fighting the crowds but they don't charge sales tax, but they are somewhat flexible with their prices (Shave off $1-3 off price to make it $30 flat for example). These shows are always known for their good deals on monitors, and if you need to buy a case, you can save on shipping. Shipping can cost you up to $20 in some cases, so there's your admission and parking right there!

If it matters any I also bought:

ECS K7SEM for $66
Duron 800 for $46
Thermoengine w/ stock fan for $20
And 20 color Slim line cases for $2. [edit](Suppose to be 10 for $2, but she didn't even count them!;) So I bought another 24case cd holder for $3.[/edit]

I often went to computer show in the past (been to Pomona's once, but the parking and admission was too much),
after discovered pricewatch and later buy.com (crazy low price+free shipping+$10 off 10 coupon/$20 off 20 coupon),
never been to computer show again.

Now we have buycom, amazon, newegg, crucial, etc,
what good deals can you still find at computer show?

Dudes, for those of us lucky enough to live in SoCal, I like the Buena Park shows...the two rooms aren't as big as Pomona, but I think the same deals exist there and parking is FREE.

Here some sites w/c list Chicago shows. Check 'em out.

1. Computer Central Shows

2. Giant Computer Show

Tinley Park, June 10th 9:30 A.m. - 3 p.m. $ 6.00 entrance fee/free parking - come early.... I usually go here every month.

Lastly... nothing scheduled yet..... last show was at April 13-15

3. Super Computer Sale

Saw some Lian-Li PC-60 computer cases for about $149 at the Tinley park show last month. Got a Pioneer DVD-115 (16X-IDE) last month for $1.00 (cover plate was missing), works great for ripping!!! :) And, yeah there are some Asian dealers there. I usually make a list of what I need and try to stick to it. But if there are any good prices and I could use it, i end up buying them. Some dealers require cash upfront and also credit card. Usually depends on what you're buying.

i used to go to this show when i was a kid in hs.. meaning we didn't have any money so we'd park far away then walk there.. then we'd look at the ppl who came out who got stamps on their hand for re-entry (it was either red or green) and we just used red or green pens and smeared it a bit and walked in.. we stopped when they started using that ink that glows under a blacklight though. oh well.the show wasn't that great anyway.. just a ton of fob vendors

Er. Yeah. Plenty of chicago shows. And plenty of Asian vendors at the shows, too, now that I think of it. The show at the College of Du Page is where I've gone, though it's been a good year or more.

i bought my computer (yes, i'm still rather new in the computer world) at the buena park show. works well and saved me $300 compared to dell at that time. anyways, i think the pomona show is nicer than buena park, but the extra drive over there and the damn parking fee ($5 last time) is rather outrageous. However, i just told them i was gonna go pick up a friend and they let me in.

Last show I went to (Trenton Computer Fair, baby) had the same lame clowns looking to make a quick buck on ignorant consumers. This one guy had all but talked my gf's dad into buying a P4 box, and I thought it was a good enough deal that I couldn't beat it if I built it myself, until the guy turns around and says "6% sales tax and 10% credit card charge!"
I went OFF on this dude telling him that I'm no fool and I know the CC company is only hitting him for 3%. Further, the credit banks ask their clients NOT to pass the charge to their customers, however it has been customary to do this at comp shows so we'll let it slide. YOu can give a 3% markup and no more.
The guy says "How we supposed to make a profit? We're already selling these parts at just above cost!" I told him that they'd better re-evaluate their pricing. If they're expecting 2% profit per unit, how can they justify gaining most of their profits by robbing credit card buyers? I told him the BBB would be interested in hearing about his "practices," grabbed the price quote with 10% CC charge on it out of his hand and dragged gf's dad away. He wasn't convinced that the guy was a scam artist until he bought a little digicam from someone else who charged him...yup...3%
It wasn't a total loss--I got a 20" and a 21" Sun monitor, both for $30 (fixed frequency is a beautiful thing. Thanks, Sun and ATI!).
Unfortunately most shows don't have the flea market of cool used stuff....

Last I went to a computer fair in San Diego was several years ago. Prices locally has gotten so low to be competitive with them. Plus you get the added benefit of buying locally. It used to be that you can really get very good prices from the fair. I am not sure what happened. Did their prices stopped going down because of overhead? (most of the vendors are from LA City of Industry) Or local vendors realized that they will be out of business pretty soon if they do not compete pricewise?

They do this Trenton thing often? I just moved out this way and would be interested. Turn on PMs man.
