Computer fails to properly go into sleep mode

I wonder if this is a motherboard problem. I have an IP35-E with latest BIOS 18. I have sleep mode set to S3. Most of the time, the sleep function works just fine. Every once in a while unpredictably, it fails to go into sleep mode with the fans still turning. The only way to fix it is a manual reboot.

Anybody else have this problem? I've got an Antec 400W something with an E8400 without overclocking and not a lot of power hungry stuff, so I don't think it's the power supply.

Could this be a motherboard problem?

more than likely a bios glitch..almost all mobo's ive had sleep problems with have been bios related...try an earlier bios or a couple of different ones and see...

Could just be a Windows problem. XP has notorious issues with sleep mode. Are you using Windows 7? In my experience, its sleep mode is superb.
