currently have the dell 2005fpw, one of the reason i got it was for widescreen movies.

anyways, aside from the fact that this is pseudo widescreen..and stills display the blackbars under widescreen....there's an awful lot of noise in the video.

using windvd 6. anything else i can do to reduce the noise? any other software, hardware i should consider? cause it looks so much better on tv without the noise.

i mean, it shouldn't look like butt on an lcd, when it looks so godly on lcdtvs.

help, please. thanks!

It is wider than 4:3 yet not the standard 16:9 of TV's but I wouldn't call it pseudo widescreen just 'cause it ain't filled. Afterall movies can be made in virtually any aspect ratio so do not necessarily fill 16:9 TV's either. Anyhoo, nothing can magically make up for missing information when "blowing up" a lower resolution source, nevermind over two times as high (in the case of DVD). Software you should consider is any 1080 HDTV content... otherwise ATI cards are generally excellent at video scaling (you don't mention what you are using) and perhaps try a diff'rent decoder although one would expect WinDVD to be pretty good. Try messin' with any advanced options like disabling superfluous de-interlacing algo's and such. Analog would just add another level of uncontrollable Blur-O-Vision which could always be added with additional software filters if your really wanted.
