computer dings three times

During the normal operation (No known problems) about every 5-10 minutes the tower dings three times. No other indications are there I went to the bios screen and the temps and voltages are good. I have a portable USB hard drive doing back-up and that seems to be ok. This has not happened before. Anyone out there know where I can start looking? Is it a problem that is happening or just a warning? Running widows 7 on Gateway with 8 gb memory and 1 Tb drive.

I found the culprit. Well I went to my neighbors house for dinner - a relief from the beeping.
Well wouldn't you know it the beeping followed me. That was my phone in my pocket. So much for being hard of hearing too - So I feel an apology is in order I'm almost sorry it wasn't a colossal and intriguing technical problem. Again sorry for the crying wolf before I investigated further. I even went thru and turned off one thing at a time and did not find the problem untill I went nextdoor. Thanks for the help though.

I think 3 beeps is usually a memory problem. At a minimum, I'd test the memory with the built in Windows Diagnostic and probably with a third party tool like memtest86.

Thanks for the reply - but I did find the problem as explained in my request as I edited It was my phone.
