Computer dies after a few hours of gaming

So a while ago my computer would full on die (power off) after like 30 minutes of gaming on games like Battlefield 2, Mass Effect 2, and some others. I ended up replacing the power supply with a 700w corsair and no more problems. Until a few days ago I noticed after several hours of gaming (I would say 4) the computer would die again! I have no idea at this point what it is. It seems soo unlikely that its PSU considering this one is BRAND new. Any ideas though?

Sounds like temps. Pull the side off your case, blow a fan on it for a few hours while you're using it, and see if it still happens.

When your computer would power off, were you able to immediately reboot it again? If so, you might want to immediately go into your BIOS and check your temps just to see what they are. You could try removing the side of your case and using a desk-type fan to blow in it to keep it cool and see if that corrects the problem.

I think there is a problem of mother board or ram. So I suggest you to contact your hardware engineer. And if you are using a laptop then check your charger that it will work properly or not.

You could also try to install the numerous temperature monitoring softwares, run them concurrently with your games and occasionally alt tab back out and look at the temperature. If CPU goes up to 80c or more then you need to do something about that. Most CPUs should idle at 30-45 and under max load at around 50-70

I know this was an old post, but I had the same issue happen again. I'm doing to download the utility software that ElenaP suggested and I'll post what I find. So whats the maximum safe temperature I should be looking for?

Epic necro, from the one who started the thread no less! 😛

Temps will be different for every build. Could be your power supply as well, or a grounding issue. I was serious about the fan trick, try it and see if it helps. You'll KNOW it's a heat issue if so.

Do you overclock? It should be obvious, but lower the voltages/speeds. Update your video drivers, flash the BIOS...
