I got screwed over a piece of paper. Yes I'm mad yes I'm venting.

Here's the story.

I bought a new P/S on 02/24/03. I put it in and it ran fine until Sunday night 03/09/03. My temp. warning came on and as I was pulling the case off the system shut down. I felt the P/S and you could fry and egg on it. I let it cool down restarted the system to check it. The fan was P/S fan was turning but not very fast. With in 2 minutes it was too hot to touch. I shut it down put in the old P/S and everything is running fine. Here's where the screwing comes in.

I call Computer Depot up to check on returns, because my wife through out my receipt. I had a copy of my credit card statement in hand that shows the purchase. I talked to a very nice women that directed me to a manager. I told him the problem and he got very rude very quickly. He told me without the receipt I could not exchange the P/S. I told him about my CC statement and that I could show it to him. I also asked if he could look up my purchase in their computer system. He said yes but I still could not return the P/S. I ask why? He said no store will return products with out an original receipt. Which I know is wrong I've returned lots of things with no receipt especially at Christmas time. Anyway that's off the subject.

I don't understand why he just wouldn't look up the sale in his computer and exchange the P/S?

Am I wrong for feeling ripped off? Or should I just shut my Piehole and eat the loss?

It never ceases to amaze me how people in business feel they have something to gain by screwing over the customers when just a little effort would produce a ton of good will.

1. When you started it up the second time you were flirting with total system destruction. Should not have done that. :(

2. The guy and the company are a jerk. Legally, if you have the funds to pursue it, you'll probably win in court.

3. Call your CC Company and explain the situation to them. Maybe they can help.

4. Keep all receipts. It's much easier to deal with a situation like this when you have the receipt.

Take it in and try again with the manager. If he won't budge, I would leave the PS there and dispute the charge with your credit card company. But hey, that's just me :)

try to return it again. take your credit card statement showing the purchase and if he starts to give you any flack get very loud and make a big public scene over it making sure everyone in hearing distance knows knows you have proof of the purchase and that he is refusing to stand behind what he sells.

I contacted my CC co. they entered it in the computer. They are also sending me some paperwork to fill out. I'm sure I'll get my money back. I did try to call the Computer Depot back. I wanted to know if there was someone above the Manager I talked to. The person I talked to told me I would have to fax in my complaint and the manager who was the A$$h&(E would review it and if he thought it was legit he would give me the number to the owner. I thought about just going in and buying another P/S with cash and then the next day return the broken one for a refund (kind of shaddy thou), but it's personal now. I want a full refund and I will spend my money somewhere that has good customer service.
