Computer defaulting to low resolution (~800x600) on 30" display

For some reason my PC is loaded all my games at I would guess maybe 800x600 instead of 2560x1600 on my 30" display.

Not sure why this is happening since before they showed up fine at 2560x1600. This doesn't have anything to do with graphical requirements either 2D and 3D games are both doing this.

Any ideas?

Also, I recently added a KVM. Could that have done anything? I still have the problem without it now but maybe it reset something?

It's probably the kvm. They do have a max resolution. The one I use is max 1600x1200. Have it on my workbench

KVM usually means VGA. That can cause problems with display detection I think.

I do not think it is the KVM. If it is, it has to be that it reset something in Windows that didn't go back because I've since hooked the monitor up directly and it is still setting all my games at low resolution.

Also, the KVM is a dual link DVI (not VGA) made for 30" displays.

I would point to the video card, which is a X1950XT that does not have any Windows 7 specific drivers. But everything WAS working fine (albeit very slow) and now it's just not.

What about the cables? Are you using dual-link DVI cables?

Go to the options menus in the games and change the resolution.

Yes. The desktop shows up fine at 2650x1600, it is just when I launch games that they revert to low resolution.

There is no such menu! Burnout Paradise, for example, has no such menu that I can find.

Even little games like World of Goo, Plants vs Zombies, no longer fit the screen like they used.

After you reset them to the right resolution in the options menu, does it stay that way or no?
