It cuts off while its not doing anything, i checked the power management and its nothing in there set to turn it off. Ill just be cruising the net and boom it cuts off!?!?!:|

This might sound stupid, but I was having the same problem before and after constantly trying to figure out what it was, I found that the power cable was barely in the socket, so that any little bump (door opening/shutting, people walking hard, etc.) would turn the computer off. Of course I've also had a fried who was having the same problem and his power supply had gone bad (and now he's borrowing my spare, grrrrr). You might want to check both of those.

I got the same problem. My power supply is Deer ! These idiotic power supply ! I think my problem is the power supply. I am planning to replace it soon. Problem is, I don't know if the one I buy will fit in my PC case.

Someone recommended getting a 400W power supply. Do I really need such a power supply ?

You don't need a 400w if you've got a "regular" computer. If you've got a power-hunger component-filled server though, then go 400w. For a standard type system a 250w usually does fine, though when buying a replacement power supply I'd get a 300w for the extra headroom since they're really not too much more than a 250w.

I ran a rescue disk to check for virus's and it never shut down but I was in DOS. The scan tok 3 hours and 45 minutes and I left it on all night. No cutting off or anything and no virus's. :|

I did just install a new video card. could that be the problem? I went from PCI to AGP? Could a video card cause this to happen?

Actually I am using an Athlon TB 800 MHz, 32MB DDR Geforce, 1 DVD-ROM, 1 CDRW, 1 webcam, 1 30GB IBM disk. DOes this qualify as a regular system ? or a non-regular system ? DO I require 400W power supply ?

I wanted to buy the Antec 300W but if it is going to give me power problems then I better go for a 400W power supply.
