2.4ghz p4c
1gb ddr500 (currently running 400)
200gb seagate 7200.7 SATA
Gigabyte p4 Titan motherboard
6800nu unlocked

Two weeks ago I had the same problem. After spending a few hours on the computer it decided it wanted to reboot itself randomly - usually right when windows starts but sometimes it would wait a few minutes - and all of the fans would continue to run which I am hoping is a key to unlocking this mystery. I would have to powerdown the computer in order to get it up and running again reset will not work but holding power for 4 seconds does. I figured that something was probably loose because I had recently moved my computer. I went in and tightened every connection and the problem went away.

Last night it began exhibiting the symptoms again. I went and tightened all connections - still didnt fix the problem. So I set the p4c back to 2.4ghz, rechecked connections, cleaned out the heatsink of all the dust that had built up in it and still no go. I checked the power in bios and instead of showing voltages like I believe it used to it simply says "OK" im not 100% sure it used to show voltage I may be thinking of a previous board but I did find this odd - so I unplugged my optical drive and floppy drive and some of the fans in my computer but there still was no success. I then went into msconfig and stopped some newer processes from running on startup namely some logitec stuff that I got at christmas but still no go.

The next steps I am going to take:
1 Reretighten connections.
2 Try booting with a different graphics card in place. If that works get into Rivatuner and relock the pixel shaders on the 6800nu.
3 Cry.
4 ????
5 Profit.

Update:

Switching the 6800nu to my girlfriends computer it seems to work fine, ran 3dmark05 all the way through without any problems.
Switching her 5900lx to my computer.. it seems to work fine.

This leads me to believe one of two things
My PSU is dying
or
One or more of the files/driver settings specific to the 6800 has become corrupted on my harddisk.

The reason I dont believe my PSU is the problem is because on her computer the PSU is a 280 unit which is running the card currently without problems - and on my computer I have disconnected pretty much anything that uses up power while at the same time the 5900 doesnt actually use that much less power than the 6800.

Problem solved...

After placing the cards back into their original boxes they both worked. I did delete all of the .dll files, registry entries, and driver information and reinstall completely so it is a possibility that it was a corrupted file. I also noticed that a screw on the 6800 pushes against a power connector on the motherboard a little bit. It is possible that this connector was loose or made the 6800 loose and that when I attempted to push them into their connectors they simply pushed against each other.
