Computer crashes in specific games

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

My system specs are in my sig.

Before we get started, know that I have the latest drivers, my system passes prime 95 for over 24 hours, it passes memtest for multiple hours, it has no viruses or spyware. All windows updates are installed.

My system runs the following games without flaw:

UT2004
Command&Conquer Generals
Command&Conquer Generals Zero Hour
Doom3
Doom3 ROE
Farcry
Half Life 2
Halo PC
Need for Speed Underground 2
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Prince of Persia Sands of Time
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
Age of Empires 3 Demo
Serious Sam 2 Demo
Fear Demo
Counter Strike Source
Half Life 2 Deathmatch
Quake 3
Unreal Tournament
Command &Conquer Red Alert 2
GTA Vice City
Empire Earth 2
Age of Mythology

But in GTA San Andreas, and Sim City 4 Rush hour, after around 15 minutes of play, the sound starts skipping and the screen turns blue with no text no nothing. Just a blank blue screen with the ingame sound repeating at the point until I hard restart the system. This only happens on these two games. Help Me!!!

Patches for those games?? Or just don't play them even. Doesn't seem like there is anything wrong, just possibly those games are messed up themselves. Just a thought.
Tas.

EDIT: have you messed with the sound settings, changing the sound APIs, etc?

Skipping sound can be a mobo bridge overheating issue, or more commonly a driver issue. I'd check for game updates and soundcard updates. You can bet it's not CPU voltage right now, because you can play UT2004, and RAM is likely O.K because you seem OK on C&C. That leaves heat and drivers.....

is your memory in one or two sticks? try switching them around, or removing one. I had a similar problem. All my games would run except for BF2 multiplayer. When it would say verifying client info, it would crash. When i put that memory in another computer, the same would happen. Memetest showed no problems with it and all the games worked in the other computer too.

I have not applied patches to those two games so that could be it.

I have two sticks of corsair value select 512MB pc3200.

yeah, i know you need some patches for sim4. i don't know if theres any out for GTA but there should be. it sometimes crashed for me and i'm the same as you- 24hr+ prime, memtest, occt, s&m, pi stable.

I am thinking that it has to do with either a sound setting or the games need to be patched. I will change some settings around in the games and see how they respond.

Thanks for all of your help you guys.

I ran it on a Xp 2500+ barton with a 9500Pro with zero problems. a little laggy in los santos but other than that...

are there patches for GTASA?

Still no luck. Sim City 4 has no audio options other than the playlist of songs. I haven't patched either of them yet, so I am thinking that is the cause.
