Alright, so here is my situation...
I decided I wanted to format my computer ( like I do every 3 or so months ). So I backup all my stuff to my second hard drive, bust out my legit Windows XP Pro disc ( with no service packs ) and go to install it like I have done 1000 times before. Well this time it gets through the part where it loads all the basic stuff to install Windows and right before the part where you select what drive you want to install Windows on it gives me the BSOD.
So at this point I'm like what the hell is going on here, I reboot and try it again...same thing. So then I try to use another copy of XP I have laying around, this one is Windows XP Pro "Borg Edition". So I put it in, it works fine. Goes through the install and everything is great. Windows loads and so on. Then I reboot and it prompts me with the screen that says the computer hasn't been shut down properly and wants to know if I want to boot into safe mode and so on. But no matter what I do now it just boot loops, no matter what selection I make.
So then I thought well maybe my HDD is bad, so I exchange it out for a new one put it in and the same exact thing.
I'm just so baffled to what the problem could be. I've never had this issue before. The only thing I can think of is that my video card is giving me problems for some reason and the reason I didn't have this problem before is because when I bought it I just installed it and I didn't format the computer. Or I guess it could be because my legit XP disc doesn't have SP2, but at the same time if that's the case why is my "Borg Edition" only working until I reboot?
So if anyone could be of assistance it would be great. Here are my basic specs:
Intel Pentium D 930
Intel D945PSN Motherboard
xfx GeForce 7600 GT XXX 256MB
2GB PNY Optima DDR2 533
74GB Western Digital Raptor
250GB Western Digital SE16
