DAMNIT!!!

I need to vent this...

About 3 weeks ago I went and got an ASUS A7V8X-X. At first I couldn't get my Maxtor HDD working so I said no problem and put in my IBM 180GXP. I couldn't find my Windows XP CD so I put in Windows 2K Professional.. WORST MISTAKE EVER! The upgrade from win2k pro to windows XP pro isn't supported! From there I try to go in and format my drive from the win2k prompt in dos, the computer won't let me. So now even after I find my windows XP cd I can't install it!!!

After getting completely sick of this computer I pull the power plug out from the hdd in my computer. oops. The HDD & CD-RW went iobye bye, the hdd won't spin but power will go to it and the cd-rw won't even be recognized by the bios!! Talk about all the problems!!

AHHH

Now I've got to rma these things..

Anyone know how I can send an RMA to lite-on? Their website isn't that great.

time to go back to pouting!!

Well you shouldn't have pulled the plug out of them when the computer was on..............

I wouldn't do an upgrade from one OS to another OS. I would always format and do a clean install............

Why was your Maxtor HDD not working? Tried it in another machine or is it just dead?

odd that yer stuff broke, i've unplugged the molex from a running hard drive plenty of times with no ill effects. have you tried the CDRW and HDD in another PC to make sure they are really broken?

I seriously doubt it works. My bud did the same thing about 2 months ago with his HDD. Pulled the plug while on and POP....DOA.

Lesson learned.

How is that any different from just pulling the plug out of the wall socket while your computer is on?
