Computer checks AGP, starts to post, restarts..

I apologize in advance if there's another topic like this. I searched a few different phrases to see if I could find anything related to my problem, and couldn't find anything.

Here's a quick rundown of my system.

-Antec Fileserver 1080 case
-AMD64 3000+ Proc
-Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939
-2x512 Corsair XMS
-160gb Seagate HD
-AOpen AGP 6800GT @ stock settings
-No overclocking, at all
-Using onboard sound
-Upgraded HS/Fan
-*Almost Forgot* Ultra X-Connect PSU @ 450W
-DVD/CD Burners

Okay, so here's a rundown of my problem. The other day, I was sitting on teamspeak with friends, when someone jumped on and said "Hey man, lets get a game of BF2 going." Cool. I start BF2, and join the server. For those of you who play BF2, you know what i'm talking about with this next part.

The "Join Game" button comes up. I click it. Nothing happens.

I wait a minute thinking...maybe a little lag...I know my system gets choppy for a minute when I join a game. Suddenly, I lose my connection to teamspeak, and the system doesn't respond to anything. I walk away for a couple of minutes, get a drink, thinking maybe the game is crashing like it tends to do for most people...and it's still frozen when I come back.

I pop the reset button, thinking it isn't a big deal. The computer restarts, "Nvidia 6800 GT, 256MB RAM" and gives me it's little diagnostic message that Nvidia owners see. After that, it goes to the POST screen, and does it's normal "AMD 3000+ Processor, ProcId=blahblah, cpuid=blahblah." The normal stuff I see. But after that, instead of showing the clock speed, moving onto the RAM, and the HD recognition, it reboots. After that, it does that continually, and won't stop.

I've checked the PSU...it's putting enough power down the lines, and it was working just fine before. I completely disassembled and reassembled the computer twice now. I've pulled out the mobo battery for 10 mins, and plugged it back in. It started up! I let it run for about 14 hours....until I just went to reboot it a minute ago. Back into the loop it goes.

I can't edit any of the bios settings after I remove the battery to reset, cause it reboots into that loop again. I have reason to believe the mobo is going crazy.

Any ideas?

Sorry for such a long post...I just wanted to make sure everyone had enough information to make an educated guess. 🙂

Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't even get to the memory test when it goes into the POST-loop.

If it's getting caught on anything...it's when it checks the clock on the CPU.

did you move the pins on the CMOS memory too? You're supposed to do that when you remove the battery as well... although I don't remember if it makes a difference. Check manual?
