Chieftec DX-01WD White Dragon (NO PSU and fans with it)

Does that mean no fans with it? If so, I recommend rethinking that. Even if that case is aluminum, you'll still need at least 1 fan...
If it means there are fans with it, nevermind :p

A minor point: i'd consider a 400W power supply

At any rate, that'll be a supremely swift system :)

Hehe, funny thing is it'll be out-of-date by then ;)

Yea, no fans or psu.. I thought to myself I could get some quality fans put into it (cause I imagined the ones that comes with the case wouldn't be as good as selecting a decent one), or am I wrong as this is my first time :)
If it's better to choose the fans myself, how many would be needed you think? I can always ask that question to the sales guy at the place I'm buying the case.

Make sure you buy the video card and cpu last.
I'm buying the video card last, but buying cpu with a bundle to save in delivery charges (I'm hoping the r9800 will bring it down a little).

If you buy a decent case, the fans that come with it are usually decent as well.

My Lian Li came with 4 fans and they're all quality.

If you're not buying the case w/fans then you should also consider how many spots it has available for case fans. Is the case aluminum?
Really this issue is only going to be truly vital if you're going to be o'cing at all. Although IMO having more (ie aluminum case, 4 fans) at least leaves you with the option of o'cing in the future, should you feel the need :)

The PSU should be great (espeically if you ever overclock), and if you're choosing specific fans, check out the recent 80mm roundup at amdmb.com
(My personal preference lies w/ the Enermax adjustables).

I'd re-evaluate the Plextor drive. Sure, it's a nice drive and you are getting quality, but it's so expensive compared to the rest of the drives on the market (I'm looking for a CDRW myself, and while I would love to get that Plextor 48X, I can't bring myself to buy one).

Either look at one of the cheaper alternatives, such as the ever popular LiteOn's, or consider going all the way to a DVD writer if you are going to spend that much money.

Sorry, but what's the difference between the plextor and lite-on (both being 48x24x48), there's bound to be something to make way for the huge price difference (or is it just plextor ripping people off). I've always been around plextor and never seen a lite-on working before, so not too sure why there is a big gap in cost is all...

Also about the case, would it still be alright to buy psu and fans seperate with that cheiftec I linked above? Ifso how many fans would be needed.

Thanks again :)

i don't know why the difference in price is so huge, but imo, lite-on is a good brand...it used to be bad..

LiteOn makes drives in huge volumes....in fact they are now the number 1 optical drive maker. Economy of scale, I guess. You will also find LiteOn drives sold under a number of different brands; they really are all over the place.

In terms of actual capabilities, the LiteOn drives support more features than the Plextor Drives. The LiteOns support doing copies of SafeDisc 2 and a few other things, such as reading the Lead-In and Lead-Out of CDs, which the Plextor can't do. The only place where the Plextor has the LiteOn beat is in write quality. The only place where you can see this is on very low-level tests. Even then, it is questionable whether that difference in write quality can really affect your burns.
