Computer Certifications?

If I get certifications in A+, Network +, CCNA, MCSE etc.. how much money realistically would I be pulling in anually. BTW is it possible to get certified in all of these and other demanded certifications while I am enrolled in a four year college with a computer engineering major...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

generally, those certifications are a joke now, because too many people have them. I opted not to drop the money to get them because they really don't prove anything. Everyone on these boards knows enough to get A+ at least, and over half could get MCSE without effort.

Yeah A+ was a joke. Network+ is a bit harder as there is more to memorize. Anyways, getting a BS in computer science would help a lot more I think.

I agree, a college degree (even if it's only a 2-year associate's degree) is much more impressive than those dime a dozen certs.

sadly, a lot of those certs are pretty meaningless, even CCNA. Focus on getting practical experience, the paper certifications can always come later.

If you're not wanting to spend too much money, then I wouldn't worry about the certs since those tests can get pretty expensive. Your degree should be more than sufficient in any case to separate you from the rest of the "degree-less" and your GPA should more than help separate you from those in the "degree" pack. Above all else, your work experience combined with any of these should really help you stand out. IF you don't have any experience (and don't see any way of getting any) then you should consider the certs. The certs are relatively easy to get and you could easily do them in your spare time/summer break. They could make the difference in the eyes of some employers
