Computer Careers Through The Army?

hello i am 18 years old and currently going to college. I was wondering if the army would be a good career option especially if i enlisted for a short amount of time, maybe 2 years. The only career I could see doing through the Army would be Information Technology Specialist. After I get out the army what would my career look like? Pay, types of jobs etc... I'd be continuing college and being in the army at the same time.

Please give me any input you can, this is a very important decision

if you're in college now, I don't see why you will need to join the Army after college to find a decent job.

The recruiters will tell you anything to sign up. They'll say, sure... and give you a test and then come back telling you that you're smart enough to have any job you want in the army including the one that you're trying to get. When it's time to choose what job you want, they'll say those positions are full, but you can do this, this, or that. I'm all for our armed forces, but they use pretty sneaky tactics to get you to sign up. Happened to my brother and now they got him for 4 years.

Oh, BTW... My bro was thinking of doing the same thing as you. He was in college for 2 years and now he's in the Army. He's been in for over a year now and he's with the Signaling company. He doesn't like being in the Army since he didn't even get the job that he wanted.

im only in my first semester of college though...

I'd only want to go if they could GUARENTEE i get the job i wanted...

I figure they can help me get a job and/or pay for college...

who knows though, any help is appreciated

Go talk to the recruiter(s). Sign nothing until you're absolutely positive its exactly what you want. SIGN NOTHING.

They will guarentee you will be working with state of the art computers sitting next to beautiful women in Hawaii with all expenses paid for and your own personal limo service. The only real way to guarentee a position that you want is if you sign up for 20 years. 2 years means nothing to them. In 2 years, you'll be just completing adavanced training. Then what? They have to let you go after they dumped all the money into training a soldier? I don't think so.
