Computer build for Friend.

Ok so a friend of mine wants me to build him a computer for class and games. He is going to school for animation (I think, can?t really remember) and he needs a well rounded computer because he will be doing many things on it. (i.e. Some 3D work, Video editing, flash, Photoshop, so on ?) And he wanted it around $1,200, so I put together a list of parts I?m thinking of getting.

MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor

GeIL 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory
Or
pqi TURBO 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel

AOpen 6800GT 256MB Video Card

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive

OCZ ModStream OCZ45012U 450W Power Supply

LITE-ON Black IDE DVD Burner

Thermalright XP-90 (with 92mm Med or High speed panaflo)

SAMSUNG 997DF-T/T 19" CRT Monitor (going to buy from a local store)

The case I?m going to help him pick out. I figure that since he is the one that has to look at it, he should be the one to pick what it looks like. Speakers I haven?t really chosen yet, any help on that would be great. And I'm pretty sure the PSU is a bit overKill so if you know of a good PSU that will run this for a bit cheaper, let me know.

Thanks.

Looks sweet.

Have the same board, and it is by far the best overclocking AGP board out.

Have the 3000+ you ordered in there as well. Can't go wrong with that XP-90... Keeps me under 53C @ 2.655

I would personally drop the Lite On DVD burner and scoop a Pioneer or NEC3500 for the same price.

I love Lite On CD-RW's, but had nothing but problems with multiple DVD-RW's.

I'm sure he will like it.

With the PSU I was looking for something quiet, is that very loud? Are you sure about 350 watts? I wanted to make sure he had room to grow. (more HDD, ram, faster CPU)

Also with the ram should I get the 2700 or the 3200? I know with the A64 tight timmings are better but I don't want to get him ran that it TOO slow.

why not just use the default hsf. It works great..

edit: er nevermind, i guess yours doesnt come with a hsf

i think that looks like a great system
