The computer in question uses an older Socket 478 Asus P4B266 motherboard and a Intel P4 1.6 Ghz CPU. Recently and somewhat randomly, when turning the system on after it has been off for a few hours to as long as overnight, the computer will boot straight into the bios without any input from the user. The system hasn't displayed any other strange behavior other than this. No new hardware has been added and the system is well maintained.
I have come up with a short list of possible causes and wanted input from you all to see if one is the likely cause or if it could be something else.
1. Cmos battery is the original and could be going bad
2. Antec 400watt power supply
3. Memory is about a year old, GSkill 2GB, but tested fine with Memtest at time of install
4. CPU possibly going bad
5. Motherboard failing
Do any of these seem most likely to be the cause, or something else?
Thanks
