Question Computer black screen after pressing turning on, then 5 minutes later works fine

Hi,
Apologies if posted in wrong forum.
I have a strange problem, my pc starts with a black screen for few minutes, then proceeds to work fine like nothing happened.
I ignored this for few weeks but I want to install a new gpu now and I want to fix this. Has someone had a similar problem?

Motherboard: Intel h61
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
I am using the integrated Intel HD for gpu.
i also remember changing something in bios before this happened, before this I did not have this problem. I reset to bios defaults but it does not solve it.

I'm assuming that you're referring to the BIOS POST screen, as the "black screen", and then Windows suddenly loads and displays? This can be caused by a multitude of reasons.

1) multiple video output devices, including onboard, and multiple video outs on each device (BIOS for device may prefer one of the outputs as the "BIOS default".)
2) DisplayPort as primary display
3) Monitor may not output at the screen resolution/refresh that the BIOS uses for the POST screens, as they are somewhat "legacy", and may not be supported by modern HDTVs, if you're using one of those.

Hi,

Thank you for the answer. Yes, I refer to the bios post screen.

1.Only 1 integrated card I have, nothing else in PCI slots.
2.HDMI port I am using.
3.This one is possible but how can I change this in bios?

It is an OEM pc, it came probably with bios settings that I changed, but when I am using the default bios settings I do not resolve it.

The bios setting can be called different names, and be under different tabs. Old intel boards sometimes had it under the advanced tab - southbridge options. It allows you to choose which graphics device to initialize first. Look around for any setting that has graphics options and make the one you want to use the first one.

It may be that the problem is not related to any settings you changed. I would try a different HDMI cable, and try turning the monitor off and back on as soon as you power on the PC. And if your monitor auto chooses the input, maybe manually cycle through to HDMI.

I changed the priority of the graphics, tried turning off monitor off and on on start. Tried different hdmi cable and no method of these worked.
