Computer Bios settings can't survive short trip to college?

Just finished upgrading my bros comp. Did a complete format and setup a new 1800+/nforce 2 in there. And of course I'm gonna overclock this thing, since its a t-bred B. Finished setting it up nicely, installed everything. I also overclocked this chip to 200x11 (2200mhz) @ 1.6V. I tested everything stable, primed for a long time, games played well for hours, etc... It didn't crash at this setting at all. It was stable as a rock. So he brings it up to college (1 hour car trip) and hooks it up. Monitor gets no signal from the computer. He clears the cmos and it then it works fine. Huh? How could that happen? Any thoughts? This pisses me off since it takes lots of changing in the bios to even get it back to default and my bro doesn't know how to do that.
