I am running J River Media Centre 15 and using the Asonic External USB2.0 8 Channel sound card, connected by SPDIF to AV receiver. Normal sound is absolutely fine, but I cannot get the surround sound to work.
One thing is that I have two options in Win7 cpanel Sound options - Speakers-USB Multichannel Audio Device and also Digital Audio (S/PDIF)-High Definition Audio Device. When I test the devices, both green indicator lights flash, biut only the Speaker device plays sound. Could it be this that's preventing me from using the surround sound?
Previously I had a computer that had a SPDIF built in, and the surround sound worked fine. I would really appreciate any help anyone has to offer!
