Was hoping some of you wise, wise men and women could help out my ignorant self:

So I ordered a Klipsch promedia 2.1 system. I was curious to see if I could use its sub on a TV.

The speakers work just fine on a tv running them directly to the receiver (i.e. bypass the sub). When the two speakers go through the sub to the receiver--that is to say, when they're connected to the receiver via an RCA jack instead of a standard bare speaker connection--well, I got nothing.

I'm hoping this is easily resolved with a better-quality receiver (yes, i have converted from 1/8 in to RCA) but if not, well, guess I'll need new speakers.

Not that I bought these with the intention of using them on a tv--guess it's mostly wishful thinking.

your post confused me.


you should always input to the klipsch speakers through the included 1/8th jack. if your using a reciever, then the audio output is probably rca and you just need to buy a rca stereo to 1/8th minijack stereo plug converter. its like a Y cable i suppose. if your using your tv's rca's then you must also use a Y converter cable. you can also buy a audio/video switch box..sold at frys etc. mines made by sony and accepts svideo/ rcas for audio etc etc and it has a bunch of outputs including miniplugs😛


theres no reason why your klipsch wouldn't work with a tv. especially since the speakers handle the sub. all you need do is supply it iwth a full signal.
